How to prepare for your appointment

In order to ensure you get the best possible experience at Max Meano Tattoo, we ask that you prepare for your appointment by following the following procedures. If you have any questions feel free to call or email us prior to your visit.

  • -Please avoid any alcohol, drugs, or pain medication for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. These tend to thin your blood, making it more difficult to tattoo and negatively effects the healing process.
  • -wear comfortable clothes, with access to the area being tattooed (if possible)
  • -Eat a good meal prior to your visit.
  • -Please do not bring any any guests. In order to limit exposure to covid-19 we ask that only our client be in the shop.
  • -You must be 18 years of age to be tattooed at Max Meano tattoo. Please bring a state issued driver’s license or ID, Passport, or military ID. Any other ID will not be accepted and you will not be permitted to be tattooed without one.
  • -If there is anything abnormal on the skin (ie. Burns, sunburns, cuts, scrapes…) to be tattooed please call prior to visit to ensure it can be tattooed, as it may need to be rescheduled to give it adequate healing time.
  • -Please notify the artist of any changes or alterations to the design prior to arriving, as any changes may require some time and your appointment may need to be rescheduled. If this is not done prior to arriving you may lose your deposit and need an additional deposit to reschedule.
  • -Please bring cash or credit card. Credit cards will incur a service fee in addition to the tattoo price.
  • If you have any questions feel free to email meano@maxmeano.com or call 484-655-7000
  • Thank you

Aftercare – Topical

  • If Tatu-derm is not used, the artist will cover your tattoo with a temporary bandage prior to leaving the shop. Keep this on for about 2 hours (no more than 6), until you can get home to properly clean your tattoo.
  • Once the bandages are removed, gently wash the entire area with warm water and soap.
  • Choose an anti bacterial product without any abrasive ingredients. (We recomend antibacterial Dial soap)
  • Use CLEAN HANDS only to wash your tattoo. NO washcloths, bath towels, bath sponges or loofahs.
  • Once it’s thoroughly washed and sufficiently air-dried, apply a thin layer of ointment over your dry tattoo. Let the tattoo air dry again after applying your ointment to allow the skin to fully absorb the product.
  • Now, you want to keep your tattoo uncovered now as much as possible, since it may start forming scabs during the early healing stage. While it is best to keep the tattoo uncovered, if that is not an option, you want to be sure to wear loose-fitting clothes so nothing causes irritation on the fresh tattoo.
  • Expect to see some oozing of the excess ink as well as some clear plasma during the first couple of days. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about!
  • During the first week, you should continue to wash your tattoo with warm water and mild soap three times a day, every day, and apply fresh ointment. It’s also important to keep your bed sheets clean for 2 weeks afterwards until the tattoo is well-healed.
  • After the first week, your new tattoo will probably start to itch or feel dry while it’s healing. Even if the skin doesn’t feel dry, apply a moisturizer at least 2-3 times throughout the day. Continue this process for up to 3 weeks, or until your tattoo is completely finished peeling and healing. Stay away from petroleum based products as they are known to cause the ink to fade over time.
  • No matter how much the skin itches, you should not scratch it while your tattoo heals. The tattooed area will form scabs while healing, and any picking at them can cause open wounds and opportunity for infection. Scratching can also cause the skin to flake and color to peel away.
  • If you have any questions or concerns please contact your artist or physician.

Aftercare – Tatu-derm

  • If Tatu-derm is applied it can stay on for up to 3 days.
  • A small amount of ink/blood/plasma may build up underneath it, this is normal. If you notice the fluids are absorbed by the skin afterwards or if there is any redness, please remove and continue topical healing procedure.
  • Also, if the tatu-derm is not sticking to the skin, or comes off and bacteria has any chance of being trapped underneath it, please remove immediately and continue with topical healing procedures.
  • You can shower with the Tatu-derm, but avoid submerging it in water. No Baths or swimming.
  • Keep your tattoo out of the sun.
  • To remove Tatu-derm, peel it back SLOWLY from the edge or corner. Peel it back over itself, not away from the body. Avoid stretching the skin. Works best in the shower or under room temperature running water.
  • Once the bandage is removed, gently wash the entire area with warm water and soap.
  • Choose an anti bacterial product without any abrasive ingredients. (We recomend antibacterial Dial soap)
  • Once Tatu-derm is removed, clean and dry the area and proceed with your preferred topical aftercare.
(We suggest Hustle Butter Ointment)
