Aftercare – Tatu-Derm

Aftercare – Tatu-Derm

Tatu-derm aftercare Instructions

  • If Tatu-derm is applied it can stay on for up to 3 days.
  • A small amount of ink/blood/plasma may build up underneath it, this is normal. If you notice the fluids are absorbed by the skin afterwards or if there is any redness, please remove and continue topical healing procedure.
  • Also, if the tatu-derm is not sticking to the skin, or comes off and bacteria has any chance of being trapped underneath it, please remove immediately and continue with topical healing procedures.
  • You can shower with the Tatu-derm, but avoid submerging it in water. No Baths or swimming.
  • Keep your tattoo out of the sun.
  • To remove Tatu-derm, peel it back SLOWLY from the edge or corner. Peel it back over itself, not away from the body. Avoid stretching the skin. Works best in the shower or under room temperature running water.
  • Once the bandage is removed, gently wash the entire area with warm water and soap.
  • Choose an anti bacterial product without any abrasive ingredients (We recomend antibacterial Dial soap).
  • Once Tatu-derm is removed, clean and dry the area.
  • Use CLEAN HANDS only to wash your tattoo. NO washcloths, bath towels, bath sponges or loofahs.
  • Once it’s thoroughly washed and sufficiently air-dried, apply a thin layer of ointment over your dry tattoo. Let the tattoo air dry again after applying your ointment to allow the skin to fully absorb the product (We suggest Hustle Butter Ointment).
  • Now, you want to keep your tattoo uncovered now as much as possible, since it may start forming scabs during the early healing stage. While it is best to keep the tattoo uncovered, if that is not an option, you want to be sure to wear loose-fitting clothes so nothing causes irritation on the fresh tattoo.
  • Expect to see some oozing of the excess ink as well as some clear plasma during the first couple of days. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about!
  • During the first week, you should continue to wash your tattoo with warm water and mild soap three times a day, every day, and apply fresh ointment. It’s also super important to keep your bed sheets clean for 2 weeks afterwards until the tattoo is well-healed.
  • After the first week, your new tattoo will probably start to itch or feel dry while it’s healing. Even if the skin doesn’t feel dry, apply a moisturizer at least 2-3 times throughout the day. Continue this process for up to 3 weeks, or until your tattoo is completely finished peeling and healing. Stay far away from petroleum based products as they are known to cause the ink to fade over time.
  • No matter how much the skin itches, you should not scratch it while your tattoo heals. The tattooed area will form scabs while healing, and any picking at them can cause open wounds and opportunity for infection. Scratching can also cause the skin to flake and color to peel away.
  • If you have any questions or concerns please contact your artist or physician.
